Meet Kimberley McDowell, born in Cambridge, England. She has Jamaican & Trinidadian nationality by descent and has lived in Barbados for most of her life. #ProudWestIndian
She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology & Computer Science from the University of the West Indies, and will soon commence a Master’s in Computing Innovation with a Concentration on e-business, and has future plans to pursue her MBA. Kimberley has a strong background in Science and has now taken to Business and Marketing with hopes of combining all these fields eventually. She is passionate about her fields of study, medicinal marijuana research, environmental activism and is stimulated by new challenges, especially where these involve career or humanitarian goals with the ultimate aim of trying to make the world a better place.
Kimberley started as an intern at Circle of One Marketing with her aunt Suzan McDowell in 2016 and is currently the Executive Marketing Assistant (intern) and apprentice to Suzan. The ultimate goal is #CircleExpansion into the Caribbean with branches to be located in Jamaica, Trinidad & Barbados to start with. Kimberley also hopes to have an environmental non-profit arm, tied to the Circle with the aim of raising awareness of environmental impacts to the Caribbean.
Kimberley was the International Affairs Chairperson of the Guild of Students as well as the Publications Coordinator for the Faculty of Science & Technology Students’ Committee at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus; UWI Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow Ambassador, Social Media Coordinator for the Future Centre Trust Organization in Barbados, a contestant in the Miss Jamaica World Pageant 2016 as well as the Face of Next to Natural Makeup in Barbados in 2015.
Outside of the academic setting, Kimberley enjoys taking part in various outreach projects, volunteering at the hospital and animal shelters and being a part of meaningful campaigns that raise awareness of cancer, environmental issues, education, women’s rights and social justice. She enjoys playing sports like table tennis and chess and in her spare time pursues photography, modeling and adventure driven activities.
